Psoro Scream Queen, Real SFX and Indie Film
Mental horror gore movie Psoro (ITCH). Don’t Scratch It…It Will Tear You Apart! The movie project moves forward through pre-production as we decide on a ‘scream queen’ to rock the part. Principal photography starts the 2nd week in August in and around London except for one part that is being shot in Southern California.
Psoro is the story of loner drug addict that ends up taking a nasty fix of heroin supplied by a demonic drug dealer. This is a mentally dark and graphic movie that is using real SFX creations by visual artist Paul While (Graphic Delusions). Psoro director Wayne Daniells (LiarDice Productions) is going to give movie viewers plenty of blood and gore.
Lucas Hansen (The Human Centipede II) has been cast as the loner drug addict and Edd Muruako (Bloodless) as the demonic drug dealer. These are both intense roles that require the actors to be fitted for custom SFX prosthetics. Seeing what visual artist Paul does has been a badass experience for me.
We’re producing a how to video on creating real SFX to go with Psoro gore action when it’s released. This is not a fluff behind the scenes video with nothing of value for viewers. Movie viewers and indie filmmakers interested in how real SFX are made can watch it step-by-step in detail.
I’m glad we’re not relying on CGI (1-2% in post), but using SFX that you can put your hands on. We’ve not yet chosen our ‘scream queen’ for Psoro. These scenes are being shot in Southern California by Slice of Americana Films. Psoro wants to launch the next ‘scream queen’ in a surreal sequence of scenes that requires topless nudity and one hell of a scream with a face that can project terror to movie viewers.
If you’re interested in the role as ‘scream queen’ feel free to email sliceofamericana@yahoo.com and include Psoro Scream Queen in subject line. It’s a half day shoot with pay, copy and credit. This is a non-union independent film shoot.
Indie film is alive and well. Working with U.K. based creative souls has been a cool experience. We’ve pulled together to produce an indie film that we want to entertain viewers with that love to watch edgy mental horror gore. During the screenplay phase we exchanged notes and reached out to gore fans asking what they wanted to see. Visual artist Paul While at an early age developed a morbid curiosity for the macabre and horror. His killer creative work pays homage to movie monsters of old.
Director Wayne Danielles had a distributing indie film idea that started on a bar napkin before becoming a finished screenplay. I wasn’t sure how it would turn out at first since I’ve never collaborated on writing a screenplay before. I’m normally one of those solitary screenwriters that is used to working solo.
Psoro just clicked as each scene was written and we exchanged notes. What made it work was the lack of ego involved. We were focused on writing Psoro to entertain movie viewers and not caught up in any ego game. It was really about us pulling together on an indie financed film that will shock viewers.
My role as one of the screenwriters and producers has been another learning experience traveling down the indie film road. This indie filmmaker Sid Kali typing FADE TO BLACK
