Everett, entertainment lawyers or straightforward sales reps are well worth
spending the money on to go over distribution agreements.

When budgets are tight an indie movie producer needs to be able to understand
distribution agreements best they can. I read them cover to cover even if I don’t
understand every point. One time I found a flat marketing fee of $50,000 hiding
in the definitions section of the agreement. Talk about sly. LOL

Sounds like you definitely need an entertainment lawyer, Sid. Either that or take some law classes. I’m afraid I’d get ripped off.

No. We still haven’t found a film marketing person. Until the money is in hand to hire one I won’t look for one yet.
I’m with you on the guarantee of nothing being right there in front of you. It makes me nervous to think of spending money like that.

I’ll most likely contact two people on Twitter that get the indie cinema business. I’ll keep you posted to see how it
shakes out.

So have you found that marketing person yet? Im looking for the same thing and have no clue who to turn to. You got it right — $2000 a month, 6 to 8 months — exactly what I was told. But what do you get? Your guarantee is NOTHING. So, again I am asking, Did you find that person you want? If so, may I ask… who?

Thanks. That’s outstanding you’re doing a rewrite to your series to focus on adding branding.
I will never write another screenplay or series script without thinking of branding from
the start. Indie producers deserve to earn a little money too in this business.

Great timing! I’m rewriting my next 3 eps at the request of a prodco, to open up the series to branding and integration (we’d like to start working with real funding hahahahah)… it’s a whole new world.

Plus: Permits me to amp up action sequences.
