Film Financing and Optimism in the Indie Film Community

We’ve had production deals fall through on film financing from movie investors at different stages and have also had shooting scripts passed on without even getting a nod of consideration.

Slice of Americana Films for right or wrong usually submits shooting scripts to potential film investors and outside production companies like we’re going to be shooting the film ourselves.

Either the pitches fell flat or the film investors didn’t like the project (script, cast or director) or didn’t see enough money to be made via indie movie distribution.

Other times we got the financial nod to go ahead and for various reasons sometimes we had to pull the plug as backing went south. It happens in deals.

Looking for money to make an indie movie is frustrating sometimes. You are out there pitching away to film investors that usually are only really concerned with the bottom-line.

Can this indie movie make as much as (insert a popular indie film made on the cheap that made millions here)? There is normally one every year.

Then something cool happens as you work with other indie film producers that are in the same shoe as you grinding it out in reality – optimism.

Optimism and good positive mojo that spreads amongst the indie film community is amazing to me.

Kind creative souls are out there not spreading bile or tearing down other indie filmmakers, but sharing words of encouragement to keep other creative souls moving forward.

Through current projects I’ve been lucky and count myself fortunate to have meet new people that have kept my creative fire lit as of late.

I also feel lucky to have friends that have always been there to support me with locations, acting, editing or whatever was needed to finish a project.

I greatly enjoying various types of indie produced entertainment with a cross-section of people that love what they do.

Right now Slice of Americana Films is looking for film investors to bankroll “Killing the Azuls” and is in post production on “Psoro” with UK based LiarDice Films and Graphic Delusions.

As we wait to see what happens with the next feature film project I’m enjoying the positive attitudes and good mojo from people I’m glad to be working with and to have met along my creative travels.

Slice of Americana Films likes different types of entertainment. We’re currently in post production for the next installment of the reality show America’s Wildest Bachelor Parties (welcome back!) and an erotica title.

Outside of the type of content different indie producers are making happen it is really the optimism and words of encouragement that makes the indie world go.
