Making Movies Naked for the First Time
When I express making movies naked for the first time I mean on tight indie budgets that basically have your creative self out there naked.
There is not big budget studio money to cover your butt when making indie movies.
The first movie is the toughest is the title of a book on movie making I wrote based mostly on my personal experiences writing, making and selling movies.
Since I’ve had a blog up on my life and times making indie movies I’ve received some really cool emails from people that read the book and got something out of it they could really use when making movies.
I also get interesting questions from people curious about different parts of indie movie production.
For the most part I answered best I could from my own movie making experience or I would ask other indie filmmakers for their feedback on the question if I didn’t have an answer.
Now that Slice of Americana Films is in post production on three different projects, pitching a feature film titled “Killing the Azuls” for film financing and I’m working on a long overdue novel, so I’m not able to answer questions quickly or at all right now.
I enjoy sharing movie making information and networking with people that love writing and making movies like I do.
I’ve just hit a point in time where my mind is focused on projects that I need to finish with coproducers and novel I’m writing alone.
The First Movie is the Toughest has a lot of practical movie making information that ranges from screenwriting to movie distribution. I tried to cover every aspect of movie making with a personal touch.
I’ve never been a fan of books on movie making that where very dry and overly technical. Before writing The First Movie is the Toughest I kept track of email questions I would get.
Many movie making questions came from people that just wanted practical advice and not what type of production gear or editing platform to use.
This gave me the idea to write The First Movie is the Toughest in simple straightforward language sharing practical movie making advice.
I also wanted to entertain readers as well, so I share stories I found interesting on making movies.

I know many first time indie producers are strapped for cash. I packed as much information as possible into the book and set the price at $12.99 in order for it to be very affordable for people to buy.
I figured if $12.99 is too much to invest into getting hard-hitting and entertaining movie making information that can help someone avoid costly and common movie making mistakes than they weren’t really serious about making movies.
Before I wrote my first screenplay or made my first movie I devoured lots of books on screenwriting and movie making by people that had already been down the movie making road ahead of me.
These writers and books really helped me sharpen my movie making focus and gave me insight onto what to expect making movies as independent filmmaker.
If I don’t respond to an email question in no way am I trying to be rude or snobby. A majority of the questions I do get on making movies are covered in detail in The First Movie is the Toughest.

I hope your project moves past being a movie idea and really does happen where movie viewers see it. Indie produced cinema keeps entertainment interesting when you get bored of the same old big budget studio movies.
